Pat Long-Weaver

Areas of Practice

As a sixth generation Texan, Pat, represents individuals, mineral interest owners, surface owners, service companies, in all facets of transactions, and if necessary, litigation, involving oil and gas and general business in the Permian Basin.

Pat aids her clients--which include families, small business owners, to Fortune 500 companies –in managing, prosecuting, and ultimately defending claims involving surface rights, royalty owner litigation, environmental claims, operations disputes, lease and contract disputes and breaches, and condemnation actions. She also coordinates serious incident/OSHA response investigations for her clients and, if needed, civil defense. While she enjoys being first chair, Pat also has managed legal teams taking complex cases through trial and appeal. In addition to serving her clients, Pat has, since 1997, also served as a court-appointed or party-selected mediator.

She is chair emeritus of the Litigation Section Council of the State Bar of Texas. She serves on the Oil Gas Energy Resources Law Council of the State Bar of Texas. She is also on her second term as a member of the Texas Oil and Gas Pattern Jury Charge Committee. She is a member as well as former officer and director of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, and a member of the New Mexico Defense Lawyers Association.

Pat is a Scout through and through. She currently serves as legal counsel and former Vice President of the Board of Directors of Boy Scouts of America–Buffalo Trial Council. For the Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest she has served for sixteen years as a volunteer on the CAMP CEO leadership project for high school girls. Pat is a devoted sponsor of Masterpiece Theater on PBS and serves on the Basin PBS Board of Directors. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Howard Payne University Academy of Freedom. And loving West Texas as she does, she was thrilled to be named to the Board of The Big Bend Conservancy.
